Failure: F$%*ing Up, Learning, and Healing
We all experience failure to some extent throughout our lives. Yet, failure is often done in a shaming and judgemental way; one that often leaves us feeling disposable, ashamed, and stunned. What happens when we discuss and honor our failures? What are the lessons that are to be learned through failure and how can we prepare for coping and managing failure for ourselves and in the lives of others? Texts for this course include oral narratives, poetry, film, theory, and rituals.
In this course participants will examine theories about failure and discuss complementary modalities that can lead to supportive experiences and communities when failure occurs.
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the impact of failure on the body and community
- Examine practices for coping with failure
- Complete a Self-Care plan for failure
- Create and deliver an apology
