Women of color inclusion and representation in all fields in the US has often only included us as entertainers, athletes, or artists without examining the theory and practice that guided those experiences and career paths. In this course a focus will be on the intellectual property of various women and femme of color theorists and frameworks to share their ideas and solutions. There is a focus on US movements and theories with an inclusion of select international efforts.
In this course participants will examine theories that were created by women and femmes of color.
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Discuss three theories created by women and femmes of color
- Explain how women of color have contributed to theoretical frameworks
- Identify the numerous ways erasure is a form of violence and has happened continuously to women of color in various fields, especially the US sexuality field
